COMPLETE AND PARTIAL DENTURES
Dentures are removable false teeth, replacing missing teeth. There are complete and partial dentures. Dentures should be comfortable to wear and look like natural teeth. The material should be hard wearing.
If you have never worn dentures before, keep in mind that it takes time to get used to them.
The lower denture will take more time than the upper denture. It may feel awkward at first, but in a small amount of time, you will forget you’re wearing them. It can take up to six weeks to learn how to speak comfortably while wearing complete and partial dentures. You may feel your tongue is constantly playing with your new dentures, but give it some time to adjust. Eat soft foods that are easy to chew to give yourself chewing practice. Wait a few weeks before attempting to eat steak or other hard foods.
It may also take time for your gums to get used to the dentures. You may notice a slight change in your facial appearance.
You must wear your dentures every day. If you don’t wear them, they may not fit when you put them in later.
